Are you LinkedIn ready? For those who have no idea what I’m talking about, LinkedIn is a tool for business professionals. So yes, that means if you have a job, it’s a tool for you! Join the Vail HubSpot User Group (Vail HUG) on Wednesday, December 2nd from 4:00-6:00pm at the Vail Centre BaseCamp in Avon above Pazzos to learn the why and how of LinkedIn. You don’t need to be a current HubSpot user to join us, it’s open to anyone. Click here to register.
Now I’m sure you’re thinking, this is just a way to promote and sell HubSpot, an inbound marketing software. But it’s not! A basic tenet of Inbound Marketing is understanding that people hate being sold to, so we will practice what we preach! The goal of Vail HUG is to bring together marketers in our region who have an interest in inbound marketing for educational and networking purposes. Together, we're a community of Hubspot users, non-HubSpot users, and marketing fanatics who love new ideas and fun people.
Even if you’re happily employed, it’s in your best interest to keep your LinkedIn profile up-to-date because your dream job might be out there and recruiters won’t know you are the perfect fit unless you have a profile. Or maybe you’re a sales professional, did you know LinkedIn is a powerful tool for generating and nurturing sales leads? LinkedIn can help expand your network of influence and give you credibility with business professionals.
I will admit, my profile needs work and I am by no means an expert on LinkedIn. I can facilitate a discussion about why it’s important and what recruiters are looking for when they are seeking new employees.
In order to prepare for this discussion, I’ve done a little research. Most importantly, I spent some time on the phone with a friend that is a high powered recruiter for companies like Netflix and Facebook. Her advice will be shared as a catalyst to foster a conversation for the first 20-30 minutes where we’ll share ideas about keywords, headlines and other important parts of your profile that recruiters look over.
For those that want a very simple overview of how to set up a profile, I’ll be available after the conversation, during the networking time to help. Make sure to bring your laptop or tablet so you can build your brand on LinkedIn.
